About the Artist

Gina Marie
Personal Motto: "To do no harm, and to create beauty and harmony in my life, my work, and my enviroment."

Gina Marie was born in rural Indiana, on a warm fall day in September, and she still resides there today. Her passion for art has been with her throughout her life.
She has worked in many mediums, and slowly found her way towards watercolor, her main medium of expression today. Although she loves to take a break from painting and indulge in her love of figurative sculpture, in the form of fine art dolls.

Several years back an accident almost took her dominant right fore arm and hand. After slowly regaining the use of her hand once more, she actively pursues her love of art, on a daily basis, within the creative process, whether it be with polymer clay, metal, paint, glass, gourds, and other diverse media.

Gina Marie lives on a farm, with many animal friends, her two children when they are not attending college, and her husband of over twenty years. She actively pursues environmental causes, animal rights causes, religious tolerance, and women's rights. Her hobbies in her spare time are, reading good fantasy novels, writing poetry and short stories, gardening; flowers, veggies, and herbs, hiking, fishing, swimming, camping, watching her son coach football, and horse back riding.

Artist Statement: I strive to create the world my little muses show me on a regular basis. At times they over load me with ideas, and inspiration to the point I am afraid my head just might burst. Keeping up with their gentle urgings to create keeps me very preoccupied and busy. As I am not an extremely social person, (*large crowds bring out my shyness*) so their control of my time suits me fine.

I draw examples from almost every thing around me, and I study ancient history, and its diverse art forms, to glean even more inspirational ideas for my work. The variety of cultures, and their myth, legends, stories, and art provides me with an incredible treasure trove of creativity to draw on.

I love bold vibrant colors, and clean lines, and I try to bring that to my work. I look at all my work as sort of Works in Progress. Each piece teaches me something new, and each piece contains a bit more progress in my technique and style. We never stop learning!

I have been asked several times by what I mean by "Reality is a figment of the imagination."
Over the years, I have found that we basically make our own reality, for good or ill. If we make our realities, then that makes reality a figment of the imagination. Thus we can do any thing if we can imagine it. If we set our mind to it, and stay on our path we can accomplish what might seem impossible at the start. It it my way of saying there is always hope! As long as we work actively towards our dreams and goals, our own reality is a figment of the imagination.
Wishing All A Bright and Magical Day!
Gina Marie

"I believe, I do, oh I do.
I believe in fairies, unicorns, and dreams come true.
I believe in magic, do you?"
Gina Marie

Artist Gina Marie still believes in the magic of childhood, when every thing is always shiny, new, mysterious, and hope prevails that dreams will always come true. A time when Santa is thought of fondly, and there is a fairy to be found in every bush, flower and tree. Dragons wing their way across skies both cloudy and blue, while shimmering white unicorns gallop across flower strewn fields. Beings and beasts, wondrous and rare can be found all in the blink of an eye. Splendor and danger lurks around every corner in a child's world yet they step bravely down the path. While climbing a tree to view the fairy hole, a child might fall, but their curiosity is never dimmed by the bumps and stumbles of childhood adventures.

In our ultra modern world, both children and adults alike, are in danger of being swallowed, by the fast paced lives we all are immersed in daily. Television, radio and other diverse media are constantly in our faces, marketing to our needs and wants. The world of the internet has open our worlds, and closed other worlds at the same time. We can travel online in the blink of an eye to places exotic, rare and wild, all while doing the family's book keeping. Miscommunication is easily perceived in the land of online, and simple human contact is negated and dulled with lack of touch.

We live in an age where times are uncertain, wars rage, and the health of our very world is in serious doubt. We inhabit a time that needs the magic and hope of our fertile imaginations more than ever. All the residents of our world need the wonder of childhood's bright promise. The promise of a place wondrous, magical, and filled with the joy of countless future possibilities.

It is the hope of Gina Marie that when you view her art, that you will be pulled back to those feelings of childhood, when you "JUST KNEW" that any thing was possible and the whole world was within the grasp of your tiny hands! A time when impossibilities where mere challenges to conquer, learning to fly was indeed within the reach of your imagination, and hope existed in every deed and action.

Wishing you a bright and magical day!
